Swartz Creek

Located in Genesee County

Local History

Home to two past governors, Henry Howland Crapo, Republican 1865 - 1868 and Josiah W. Begole, Democrat 1883 - 1884.

Originally named the Miller Settlement from the Miller family who came from New York in the early 1800's.  Changed to Swartz Creek in 1842 when the first post office opened.

Today Swartz Creek has developed into a suburban community with excellent education, business and industry.

Swartz Creek has one of the lowest tax rates of any Michigan City.
