BusinessesLocal HistoryC. H. Prescott bought the Lake Huron & Southwestern Railroad in 1879 and renamed it the Tawas & Bay County Railroad in 1879 and renamed it the Tawas & Bay County Railroad. The settlement was known as Prescott's Camp Six, shortened to Prescott on October 27, 1882, when given a post office with Mrs. Julia A. Davison as its first postmaster.
