Local History

Named, platted and recorded by Charles Mears, a Chicago capitalist, who organized the Middlesex Brick & Tile Company to utilize the clay banks on the north shore of nearby Pentwater Lake.  In 1865, Middlesex failed by one vote to become the county seat, now a part of the village of Pentwater.
