Local HistoryDaniel Reeder built the first log cabin beside Muskrat (now Missaukee) Lake in 1868 and he became the first postmaster of Reeder on January 22, 1872. By a one vote margin it was chosen the site of the county seat in 1873. A station on the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad, it was renamed Lake City on January 25, 1877.
