BusinessesLocal History This village on the Platte River, in Homestead Township, was founded in 1895 by the building of the Guelph Patent Cask Company and was named for the baby daughter of its general manager, J. A. Gifford. A station on a branch of the Chicago & Western Michigan (now Pere Marquette) Railroad. Incorporated as a village in 1914.
