Grand Ledge, MI 48837

Fitzgerald Park is a 78 acre facility best known as the home of the Ledges - sedimentary rock outcroppings line the shores of the Grand River.

Local History

H. Mason, a speculator, made the first land entry here in 1831, but it was sold for taxes four years later.  Edmund L. Lamson made the first permanent settlement in 1848, for Henry A. Trench, whom he found living here, later moved away.  In 1850, Mrs. Lamson suggested the name after the Grand River running past and the great ledge of rocks nearby.  Incorporated as a village in 1871 and as a city in 1893.
