Local History

Given a depot on the Detroit & Mackinaw Railroad as Glennie Station and a post office of the same name on October 5, 1889, with Ella Deacon as its first postmaster.  The name was shortened to Glennie on October 2, 1894.  The village plat was not recorded until 1940.
