Local HistoryFirst settled by James Cisne in 1795. Conrad Ten Eyck built his tavern in 1826 and the place was called Ten Eyck. Later until 1829 it was called Bucklin for pioneer A. J. Bucklin, its town of Pekin was renamed, for General Henry Dearborn, American Commander in the War of 1812, and incorporated as Dearbornville. Platted by Paul D. Anderson in 1833, given a post office as Dearbonville on March 7, 1833, with Thornby N. Schoolar as its first postmaster, with the office renamed Dearborn on May 28, 1857. Incorporated as the village of Dearborn in 1893 and as a city in 1927, in 1928, it absorbed Fordson which had already absorbed Springwells.
