Local HistoryThe land was owned by Eugene R. Sly and Nancy Stauffer. North of the old Gilmartin Road it was known as Bay Side, but both areas came to be called Bay Shore. Given a station on the Chicago & Western Michigan (now Pere Marquette) Railroad by 1892 and on July 25, 1892, a post office. Surveyed and platted by John Swift in 1896.
